Build your menus

A menu is what customers browse. Each menu has sections ("Starters", "Drinks"), and each section holds products. A product can sit in as many menus and sections as you like — you edit it once and every menu updates.

Create a menu

  1. Open Menus and choose New menu.
  2. Give it a Title. A title is required to save.
  3. Choose Add Section to create your first section, then add products to it.
  4. Choose Save menu (or press <kbd>⌘</kbd><kbd>S</kbd>). The button stays disabled until something has changed.

Sections

For each section you can set a Title, a Description and a Section type:

  • List — products stacked down the page.
  • Horizontal scroll — a row customers swipe through, good for featured items.

To add products, search under Search Products, or choose Add product on an empty section to create a new one. Drag products to reorder them, or use Move Product to send one to another section. Deleting a section never deletes its products — they stay in your catalog.

Open Menu Settings in the toolbar:

SettingWhat it does

All day menuAvailable whenever your store is open.
Begin / EndWhen not all-day, the hours this menu is the one showing. Overnight windows (10pm–2am) work.
Section navigationShows the jump bar that lets customers skip between sections.

Which menu customers see

When a customer opens your storefront, VenueRun picks the menu for right now, in your timezone: the first menu whose Begin–End window is open, otherwise an all-day menu, otherwise your first menu. Customers can still switch menus — or choose All menus — from the menu drawer.

Import a menu with AI

Already have a printed or PDF menu? Choose Import AI, then Select File, and upload a photo or PDF (JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or PDF, up to 20 MB).

VenueRun reads it and shows what it found — "Found 6 sections, 48 items" — with each item's price, or "no price read" where it could not tell. Choose Add Sections to put them in the menu, or Discard.

Nothing is saved until you choose Save menu, so check names and prices first. AI can misread a photo, especially a dim or crumpled one.

You can also import into a single section with AI import on that section.
