Developer tools
Under Settings → Developer you'll find three ways to connect VenueRun to other systems — a POS, a kitchen display, your accounting.
API keys
API keys let your own software use the VenueRun API. Choose Create API key and give it a title. Copy the key right away — it's shown once. Keys are separate for live and test mode. Revoke a key you no longer use with Revoke key.
Webhooks
Webhooks send an HTTPS request to your server when something happens — an order is paid, a product changes. Choose New endpoint, enter your HTTPS URL and pick the events. Each request is signed; use the endpoint's Signing secret to check it came from VenueRun. View delivery logs shows every attempt. Failed deliveries are retried for up to three days.
See Webhooks in the API reference for the event list and how to verify signatures.
Functions
Functions run your own JavaScript on VenueRun's servers when an event happens — for example, sending each paid order to your POS — without running a server of your own. Choose Create function, write your code and save to deploy it.
