Set up modifiers
A modifier is a group of choices on a product — "Size", "Toppings", "Add a side". Create them under Products → Modifiers, or with Create Modifier while editing a product. One modifier can be attached to many products.
Options
Each option has:
- Option Label (required) — "Large", "Bacon".
- Additional Cost — added to the product's price. Leave at 0 for free choices.
- Available — turn off to mark an option sold out. Customers see "Bacon is sold out".
- Starts Selected — pre-selects the option, so the default build is ready to add.
Drag options to reorder them.
Rules
Three numbers decide what a customer can choose:
| Rule | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Minimum | How many choices are required. 0 makes the group optional. |
| Maximum | The most a customer can pick. Leave blank for no limit. 1 makes it a single choice. |
| Maximum of each option | Above 1 lets a customer take the same option more than once — "2× bacon". |
Some common setups:
| You want | Minimum | Maximum | Max of each |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pick exactly one size | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| Optional toppings, any number | 0 | blank | 1 |
| Choose 2 sides | 2 | 2 | 1 |
| Up to 3 extra shots | 0 | 3 | 3 |
Customers see the rule written out: "Choose 1", "Optional", "Choose up to 3", "Choose at least 2".
VenueRun won't save a group no one could complete — for example a minimum higher than the maximum, or a minimum of 3 with only 2 options. If every option in a required group is sold out, the product can't be ordered until one is back.
